Fr. Carl Prothman
Born: 8 Nov 1909 in Little Rock, Pulaski Co., Arkansas
Died: 23 Apr 1992  at the Mazenod Residence at the age of 82, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Mother:  Catherine Murphy Prothman

Reverend Father Carl Prothman was a member of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate. He joined the Oblates in l930 and took his novitiate at St. Charles, Manitoba and his years of scholastic study at St. Charles Scholasticate in Battleford, Saskatchewan. 

He was ordained in Battleford in 1936 and Father Carl's first obedience was teaching Latin and Mathematics. His ministries as a parish priest included Carruthers, Liebenthal, St.Walburg, Richmound, Luseland, Allan and Scott. 

In addition to his pastoral responsibilities he was also District Superior, Delegate for St. Mary's Province to the international Congress on the theology of Vatician 11, was appointed to the Provincial Committee on Pastoral Ministry and preached weekend retreats.  In l986 Father took residency at Wilkie, Saskatchewan. Due to ill health he retired at Mazenod Residence in 1990. 

Father Carl very much enjoyed reading and classical music.  He was a man known for his brilliant mind and sharp wit. 

He always had the time to engage anyone in a conversation that was direct, to the point and challenging. He was a kind and caring man and always fought for what he believed in.
