Catherine was affectionately known as Kitty. She worked for many years at the old Beehive Cave, the Variety Store and the Health Food store in Campbell River. She was very active in salmon fishing and moose hunting with her family

Upon her death a tea was celebrated on her behalf on Friday, 27 February 2004 at her home. There was no service by request and she was cremated.

Kitty and her brother Jack along with their Mother Sally Owen sailed from England on the ship "Empress of France" to Canada.  they sailed from Liverpool in December 1919 and arrived in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada.  They were quarantined at St. Johns because Kitty and Jack had the measles.  As a result they missed being on a train which subsequently crashed and killed many people.  They got a later train along with the wives and children of returning soldiers and came to Vancouver, B.C.
